Today - August 14, 2005

I got up excited today! I will be reading the epistle 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18, during the memorial service of the late Senator Raul Roco. It is such an honor to be of service to such a great statesman, even in his death.

I was never conscious of how our politics went in the Philippines, but I have always heard people admired Sen. Roco. And for him to die last August 5, 2005 was a sad news for the Philippines. One of our member in the Filipino Folk Arts Theater Inc. (FFATI) is the Senators niece, Margarita Roco. Margarita has a great singing voice, more like an opera singer and we are all so proud to have her. Like her, I am also one of the newbies in our group. Ate Zonia Velasco our director, organized a memorial service so we could pay him a tribute.

There were not many people who attended. Marga doesn't have a lot of family in the US, so it was just some close friends of the Senator, and some important people of Dallas. But, there were a lot of pastors though, about four of them.

It was videotaped, to be sent to the Philippines, to Sen. Raul Roco's family. And our pictures was taken by Lita Cruz which she promised would come out in the The Texas Herald. We'll see! That would be something to be proud of as an Iliganon, dont you think?
